I have found that alienation has increasingly become a problem in our society and that in the last 20 years there has been a sharp decline in social connectedness even with the rise of social media. This alienation is leading to other, more serious problems and can be linked to mental health issues. It is important for us to help each other and better understand these problems.
I created aliennation to help bring light to this problem. aliennation is a series of interactive installations promoting the formation of social bonds and being alone in a positive way. Each unique installation provides an experience for viewers that is meant to inspire creativity and create a feeling of connection to the community. In addition to these installations, an activity book is available for a more personal approach

This project was completed to fulfill my graduation requirements in the form of a capstone thesis project for my BSD in Visual Communications Design from The Ohio State University. It was on display at Urban Arts Space in Columbus, Ohio as a part of the Department of Design Spring Exhibition from March 29 through April 8, 2016. Part of the installation was installed in the gallery space for patrons to interact with.
